Best Gyms in Barcelona for Americans

jlentz24

When I first arrived in Barcelona, I knew I needed to find a place for my endorphin high. As expats living in Spain, it’s important not to lose your fitness routine (even if we are walking 3-4 miles each day). Barcelona has a variety of gyms that cater to expats, some even with classes in English.

If you are looking for a spin class closest to those in the States like Full Ride or Cycle Bar, head to Good Fit. Their instructors usually alternate between Spanish and English during class and the playlist are more English pop. They offer spin classes, as well as group sculpting classes. The gym has full shower and bathroom facilities, and cycle shoes and towels are included. Lockers are available for your personal items.

Address: Carrer del Rector Ubach, 37, Sarrià-Sant Gervasi, 08021

This amazing studio in Eixample offers English taught yoga classes. The staff is very friendly and there is even a café at the studio for your morning coffee after class. The studio offers an immersive audiovisual experience with beautiful travel motifs surrounding your yoga mat. From Power Vinyasa to Pilates Sculpt, SABDA offers mindful movement in a unique setting.

The vibe is always popping at LoveCycle, a spin studio near Diagonal. I haven’t had a class yet in English, but the instructors are friendly and model all movements. This studio has a more Spanish, local style with their dance moves on the bike and local Catalan beats. They offer full bathroom facilities with towels available for the showers and lockers for your personal use. If you are on Class Pass, you will need to rent shoes each time for €2.

Known for their heart rate monitors, the workouts are designed to keep your heart rate in the target zone for fat burning and improved metabolism. Group classes are offered throughout the week, but you can still move at your own pace.

Address: Three locations around Barcelona -- Plaça de Gal la Placídia, 22, Gràcia, 08006 -- Carrer d'Aribau, 121, L'Eixample, 08036 -- Av. Lluís Companys i Jover, 13, 08172 Sant Cugat del Vallès

Pricing: Monthly plans offered with as little as 4 classes/month; the L’Eixample location was new when I arrived so they were offering specials as low as €49/month

Looking for a gym community? CrossFit Eixample is known for its friendly vibe with highly skilled coaches. They offer a variety of classes from WOD (Workout of the Day) to Olympic Weightlifting and beach training.

If you want to check out a few studios, consider signing up for Class Pass. Most studios in Barcelona don’t give you a free first class, so Class Pass allows you to try different ones for less than the drop-in rates. You can filter by credit (price), time, location or type of fitness center.

About the Author

Hi, I’m Jordan. I’m originally from Destin, Florida, but have lived in Nashville, TN for 10 years. I started this blog in 2022 when I left my career in finance to take an adult gap year… yep, that’s right at 35 years old! Since then I have traveled to 65+ countries, most of the time solo. I lived in China for 4 years and have backpacked around the world. I like to stretch my budget for things like good meals and scuba diving, but ultimately the local experience is what drives me to explore. I love meeting new people and learning about other cultures, traditions and life lessons. Thanks for being here!
